Video Clip

Okay, I decided that the cast and crew deserved to see a little more of what they worked so hard to complete. This is a clip that has preliminary sound effects, music effects, etc. It gives you some idea, but is far from complete.

Getting Closer

I'm very happy to announce that I am about 80% complete with post-production! I am heading overseas, again, to finish an engineering project, but while I'm gone my friend Craig is continuing the editing work on the film. I am happy to have a fresh set of eyes on the post-production, I was getting a bit numb. He was the cameraman for my short film "Jessica" and has been doing editing and other production work for several years. I look forward to getting back from Thailand and seeing how he has improved the film.

I think that there is a reasonable chance of having this completed in August 2008.

Check back in about 3 weeks for an update.

Milestone

Hello everyone I am excited to report that I just completed the rough edit of the movie! I had an unexpected break in my engineering projects, and I used the time I've had over the past week to edit the movie. It was so exciting and refreshing to get back into post-production. What remains is sound clean-up, sound effects, music track, visual effects, and fine tuning of the edits. In summary, I am about 70% complete with post-production. Here are a few screenshots.

Check back next week, I should have another update and maybe a movie clip.

Production Update

Well folks, the update on production is...no progress on the editing. I am overseas now and will be tied up until mid-May. I am unable to do editing during this time, the project demands do not allow me any time to do so. I did get a call from someone who may be able to help me complete the editing, but that won't be sorted out until I get back to the states. In the meantime you can see what I am up to by going to my other blog "Stumbling Toward God."

The photo is a behind the scenes shot of the making of "Spirits Among Us." I believe Mike Mireles took the photo, thanks Mike. I picked this photo because I have my back to the camera, in fact everyone seems to be ignoring the camera, much like I appear to be ignoring post-production. Actually, I am working on the business plan for creating many more Christian productions-in my meager spare time here.

Who You Calling Dummy?

Here is just a quick post, reporting that I have made no progress whatsoever on the movie over the past few weeks. It frustrates me a bit, but I can't do everything all at once, though I do try. You can learn about my "business" ailment in my other blog "Stumbling Toward God."
The photo is a shot taken from one scene where Mark's ventriloquist doll has come downstairs to torment him. This is my ventriloquist doll. I had two of these since I was a kid. They always gave me a bit of a scare. I'm happy to finally make use of that scare.

A Few Pics

I thought I would post a few photos from the production. Here is a shot of Mary Sarah (http://www.marysarah.net) in makeup for her scary scene on the stairway. We had a lot of fun that evening.

Here is a shot of my boom operator, key grip, and sometimes, cameraman, Bill. He was quite an asset to the production.

Lead actors John and Dawn Bursell, with Mary Sarah. They made a cute family.

Here are a few scenes from the movie:

Production Notes

This is the beginning of my production notes for my first feature film "Spirits Among Us." The screenplay was co-written by Chris Vanderkaay and myself. Chris is a talented writer, he also hosts a podcast site http://www.studioupstairs.net/ It is worth visiting.

The photo to the right was taken on the first day of shooting, with the actress Junie Hoang (http://www.juniehoang.com/)

I have also produced a couple short films, "Just Two Minutes" and "Jessica." These two films and a trailer for my current film "Spirits Among Us" can be seen at my website http://www.dgwmovies.com/

This feature film was shot last June and July (2007) in Kingwood, Texas. It was a tremendous amount of work, but it was fun and rewarding. I made new friends as a result. Everyone worked hard for low pay, and are all patiently waiting for me to complete and release the film. My other job, and my post-production work on another film ( http://fromheavenwithlovefilm.com/ )consumed so much time that post-production has been considerably delayed. I finally had an opportunity to get some more editing done in January while working overseas. I now have about 40 minutes of the movie in rough edited form. Film premiere and release dates will be set soon.
